Music to touch your soul

Inspirational music and songs

All of the following are my soul’s favourite musical nourishment:-

Quanta Qualia‘quanta’ means ‘many‘ and this description for the word Qualia is taken from the book The HeartMath Solution  – ” The intelligence of the heart acts as an impetus for what some scientists call qualia – our experience of the feelings and qualities of love, compassion, non judgement, tolerance, patience and forgiveness”  So much beauty in one word. I have two favourite versions:-       Patrick Hawes  from his album Blue in Blue  https://youtu.be/xYgodwBHsH8  :   and  Hayley Westenra – from her album Odyssey.    I play this album over and over every time I drive my car.  (a link for this was not available)

Higher Ground – Barbra Streisand.  Incredible voice, wonderful album, my favourites are ;-    Circle, Lessons to be Learned, Avinu Malkeinu, On Holy Ground.  https://youtu.be/F3S7PqzylKM

Hildegard de Bingen – Spiritus Sanctus. Beautiful choral sacred voices. I fell in love with the sound of nuns voices during the time I spent with the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph in the New Forest where they sing at each of their four daily services. https://youtu.be/LJEfyZSvg5c

Illumination –   Another find of soothing Gregorian chants    https://youtu.be/TWdSi0Xw4u0

Deva Premal – Gayatri Mantra. These are sacred words that resonate with your soul and are sung so beautifully. Once discovered they will lead you to many others sacred songs– if they don’t resonate with you – don’t worry – I am sure there will be some that do. (sorry this link no longer available – however there are many similar) ***  https://youtu.be/BSmToj9VZ4s

Om Mani Padme Hum – peace mantra. This piece of music was playing everywhere in Bangkok when we visited in 2010 and I loved it.  I was so delighted when I discovered it on YouTube. It makes me feel a sense of joy and well-being. (sorry this link is no longer available – however when you find the one below this will be very close to it)***  https://youtu.be/bbgHZWwyhcQ

When you find Om Mani Padme Hum there will be nearby the Mantra of Avalokiteshvara very similar and equally as uplifting.  https://youtu.be/6Pev6QXhmlk

Madame Butterfly was my first introduction to the classics, I hadn’t realised how much I could enjoy them. https://youtu.be/mN9Dipgqdtw  ***(sorry – these two links have also disappeared but there are many other beautiful versions)   another favourite is O Mio Babbino Caro, also by Puccini, this was sung at my Dad’s funeral *** https://youtu.be/s6bSrGbak1ghese

John Denver was one of my favourite singers, he was a Peter Pan, a country boy with a clean image and a happy voice which still makes me feel happy when I listen to him https://youtu.be/1vrEljMfXYo

Tina Turner – you may not be aware that Tina is a Buddhist and these are beautiful examples of her using that amazing voice and talent to chant. https://youtu.be/OBgN849_nOs   and   https://youtu.be/6XP-f7wPM0A
